Song Of The Day: "Busy Doin' Nothin' " by Ace Wilder

In order to precisely talk about this popstar, we have to go through a little Scandinavian education. 

Lesson 1: Eurovision is an international singing competition that every country in Europe participates in. Each country will nominate a singer and one song to represent them in a battle that basically takes over all of Europe. This Buzzfeed article provides some of the best examples of why Eurovision is amazing.

Lesson 2: Scandinavia has a reputation for making the best music on the planet. Examples include Robyn, Tove Lo, and Icona Pop. They also take Eurovision very seriously. So seriously that each country in Scandinavia has a competition TO COMPETE FOR EUROVISION. That's how it's done people. The standard of pop is so great that they need a qualifying competition for Eurovision.

Lesson 3: Sweden's competition is known as Melodifestivalen and is pretty much as amazing as Eurovision. 25 acts enter but only one can have the honor of representing Sweden during Eurovision. This year, Melodifestivalen was better than ever for 2 reasons. The first was that the almighty Alcazar reunited and life was worth living again. The second was this song by Ace Wilder, "Busy Doin' Nothin".

Ace is clearly Sweden's answer to Kesha but without so much of the overt drunkenne$$. Her Wilder EP was one of the best releases of last year with nonstop fun injected into all 5 songs. In order to skyrocket to national fame, Wilder then entered Melodifestivalen and pretty much killed the competition with this song, making it her first Swedish number one hit. It makes sense too, the song follows the same acoustic-EDM sound that "Wake Me Up" and "Timber" made famous. But Ace takes it a step further by adding a youthful rebelliousness that would clearly resonate with every Millenial. And this song came in SECOND AT MELODIFESTIVALEN (the winner was a ballad blah blah blah).

Luckily for us, Ace Wilder knows she's got international popstar potential. She is readying her new single for release in the UK very soon and it's a no brainer that it will hit number 1. Hopefully, Wilder will slowly take over the world as Busy Doin' Nothin' is definitely one of the best songs this year. Also, the video features stepping (shout out to SLAM) and therefore makes me love her infinitely more.
