With the awkward pause of music at the beginning of each, there comes a song that breaks through that lull at full force. This year, it looks like it's going to come from Scottish singer Nina Nesbitt. Her acoustic-pop is really not what we want to deal with and it looks like she's sick of it too. Her forthcoming Modern Love EP apparently rebrands Nina as the next electropop songstress and the first song off that EP does just that.
"Chewing Gum" starts off like Tove Lo's "Talking Body" (almost a little too similar) before going into a maelstrom of synths at the chorus. Now, we can all agree that songs that sound like Tove Lo are amazing, so get into it. Based on the surprisingly good Pitbull song from last week and this song, 2016 may be the year of surprises in terms of artists coming to their senses.
