Well the title really says it all, doesn't it?
Carly Rae Jepsen, aka Carly Bae/Slay Jepsen, has essentially made the anthem for every rom/com, coming of age, Breakfast Club ending type love movie of the modern age. It screams 80's passion, 90's romance, and a sense of wanderlust and magic that seems to have been lost in the past 5 years. "Run Away With Me" follows Carly's last really really really really really really amazing single "I Really Like You" in reminding people why pop music deserves to be recognized as the best type of music anyone can listen to.
While the former single oozes with giddy excitement, "Run Away With Me" takes that sense of euphoria and amps it up to the millionth degree. From the first 10 seconds of that electro-saxophone-guitar-synth riff, you know that Carly struck gold in a way that a lot of her contemporaries have spent their entire career trying to recreate (looking at you Katy Perry). It basically encapsulates the most epic romance one could imagine, from meeting up at a fateful party, taking a risky journey with the one you love, a city adventure with "your sinner in secret", and by the time Carly gets to the era-defining "over the weekend, we could turn the world to gold" bridge, you have to be a puddle of tears.

It makes sense that the song becomes a hit for the ages. It was created by Miss Jepsen herself with production duo Mattman & Robin, responsible for hits by Tove Lo and Taylor Swift, along with Shellback, who has been a part of the biggest hits of the past 5 years. It has a very modern yet retro sound that Taylor has been riding on her extremely successful 1989 album.
(For those uneducated, it should be known that Carly Slay's 2012 album Kiss was essentially the blueprint for Taylor's latest endeavor and her new album EMOTION surpasses both of them in being one of the top 5 albums of the past 15 years.)
The lyrics show an emotional growth from Carly's cute beginning as the "Call Me Maybe" girl to a pop queen ready to take her throne. The single cover is proper pop art, mainly because you can't tell if Carly will steal you away or suck your soul The Grudge-style. And if all of that wasn't good enough, the chorus's background vocals sound like Charli XCX!!!! It's rare to find songs that literally has everything, but this is one of them. And if you love this, you'll be happy to know that there is an entire album of songs coming later in the summer that are just as amazing as this.

It's a song of blissful hope for the hopeless romantic. It's a song of heartwarming nostalgia for the broken-hearted. It's a song of unstoppable happiness for enduring lovers. It is one of the best songs of the summer in 2015. It is one of the best songs of the entire year. It is one of the best songs of the decade. And most importantly, it cements Carly Rae Jepsen's status as the savior of pop in 2015.
