2018's Next Big Things

Dua Lipa is the success story NSOTP is proud of.

It's peak holiday season, aka the end of Q4, aka the end of pop Christmas, and the beginning of real Christmas. It's been a pretty great Q4 by most standards, not least of all because of Rita Ora's "Anywhere" and the new Tove Lo album. As 2017 winds down, this is around the time that blogs line up their stars with the biggest expectations to be the break out star of the next year. The BBC Sound of... poll used to be a pretty good decider of who would actually make the hits for next year, but I blame them for making Sam Smith a thing and the past couple of years have been disappointing. I take the credit for the recent global pop superstardom of Dua Lipa, although her songwriting and pop savvy might have had something to do it also. So it's time to break down my picks for the biggest pop acts that I hope will become truly amazing things in the upcoming year.

Each day I'll try to break down each of the fifteen acts and go over their already killer sound and what I hope to see from them in the next year.  It's in alphabetical order, but I'm sure you can tell who will have a better shot than others (aka the Norwegians). They all have not yet to release a full album but have amazing potential and some have certifiably made some of the best songs of the year! Follow this page for updated links!

The acts are as follows:

Dagny
Fickle Friends
Ina Wroldsen
Kim Petras
KLP
Loop
Magdalena Bay
Michaela May
MY
Ralph
Sigrid
Skott
Sofi Tukker
Stockholm Noir
Youngr

Until next year, here's Dua Lipa's "New Rules".
